My item(s) was broken while shipping. What should I do?
Don’t worry if your order was damaged during its shipment to you! Simply contact us within 30 days of purchase, including your order number and the exact item(s) damaged during transit. In most cases we will have replacement product on its way to you the next business day. We suggest you hold on to your damaged product until the replacement arrives, as we might ask you to send photos so we can file a claim with the shipper.

Why didn’t I receive tracking information for my order?
For all but the very tiniest of orders you should have received tracking information via email just prior to shipment. Because this email is sent by a third-party supplier, however, it often ends up in our customers’ spam folders. Don’t worry, simply contact us with your order number (or your email address and date that the order was placed) and we will reply back with your tracking information.
How can I change the shipping address for my order?
If you’ve already placed an order but need to change the shipping address please contact us right away! We will be more than happy to correct the address for you, as long as the order hasn’t already been picked up by the shipper. Unfortunately shipping addresses cannot be changed once they’ve left our facility.
My order is a gift. Can you prevent the recipient from seeing the prices?
Assuming your order hasn’t yet left our facility, then absolutely yes! If you’ve already placed the order simply contact us as soon as possible with your order number. If you have not yet placed the order then simply tell us to remove the prices in the “Order Notes” box at the bottom of the checkout page (the page where you enter your credit card information). In either case let us know if you would like us to completely discard the packing slip or simply black out the prices on the packing slip. The latter option makes it easier for the recipient to make returns and exchanges if they choose to do so.

I signed up for your email list but never received the discount code!
Yikes, we’re sorry you never received the discount code! Not a problem, simply contact us with your email address. We will make sure you’ve been added to the email list (occasionally a technical glitch prevents it from successfully being added to the list) and reply back with the code. As always, you will be able to unsubscribe from the list at any time and we will never sell or rent your email address to anyone. Note that the discount code does not work when including Clearance Items with your order.

Does Gone Reading International have a “vision” or “mission statement”?
We sure do! Here’s the formal statement:

Our mission is to bring the world closer to this vision by helping to ensure that everyone has open access to the reading materials they want and need. We accomplish this mission by providing new funds for reading-related charities that focus their work across the developing world.”

GoneReading supports reading because it is a primary tool of self-empowerment and improvement. When people have the ability to read a broad spectrum of materials, life changes for the better. I’ve heard GoneReading has pledged 100% of its profits. Can you explain that further?
Absolutely! To fulfill our philanthropic mission, Gone Reading International has pledged to donate 100% of its after-tax profit to fund new reading libraries and and other literacy programs around the world. This means that each year we donate a sum equal to or greater than our total revenues minus our total expenses, including any taxes paid. We support non-profit organizations with proven models and long-term track records of success in building village libraries in the developing world.

Right, but maybe you’re a top-heavy organization that wastes all of its “profit” on overhead and salaries?
Nothing could be further from the truth! In fact, our staff is 100% voluntary without any compensation to date. Owners Brad & Eileen Wirz have received no compensation from Gone Reading International.
Who receives the funds donated by Gone Reading International?
So far we have designated two such organizations to receive most of our donations: READ Global and Ethiopia Reads. We’ve worked hard to get to know their methodologies and track records, and believe them completely worthy of our funding.
Does Gone Reading International have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS?
No, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status only applies to organizations that collect charitable donations, which we do not. GoneReading is not a charity. Rather, GoneReading is in the business of funding charities.
